Indiana Compliance Officers Roundtable Spring Event Recap

Compliance officers and in-house counsel for Indiana companies gathered in May for an educational presentation, informal group dialogue, networking reception and tour as part of the recently formed Indiana Compliance Officers Roundtable.
At the May meeting, held at MISO Headquarters in Carmel, Ind., compliance officers and in-house counsel from various sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, utilities, agriculture,   retail and higher education had a lively discussion about current issues focusing on maintaining employee/management engagement in the compliance program over time, creative ways to promote compliant behaviors across generations and how to show the cost vs. benefit of compliance programs. Discussion was led by Lori Spence, Deputy General Counsel & Executive Director Compliance Services, of MISO. The group also had the opportunity to tour MISO's electrical power grid control room, not typically available to the public.
A Fall 2014 educational and networking event is also being planned.  The Fall Indiana Compliance Officers Roundtable event is expected to include 1 hour of Indiana Continuing Legal Education Ethics Credit.
As regulations become more complex and government enforcement increases, Indiana companies and organizations are creating or enhancing their compliance functions. Likewise, internal compliance organizations are growing and expanding the scope of their responsibilities. In-house compliance personnel are interested in having a group with which to share best practices and get acquainted with others in the compliance field.
The Government Enforcement, Internal Investigations and Corporate Compliance group at Ice Miller is providing administrative and organizational support for the Roundtable.  Ice Miller will also maintain a contact and email list for those companies and organizations participating in the Roundtable. There is no charge to participate in the Roundtable.
To learn more about the Roundtable and to add your company or organization to the email list for updates and other information supporting compliance personnel and in-house counsel, please contact Dale Stackhouse or Matt Fornshell at Ice Miller LLP.
Information about the Fall 2014 Roundtable and other events will be provided to the Roundtable mailing list.
