Jarrod Loadholt Featured in Law360: "Ice Miller Nabs Versatile Public Affairs Partner in DC"

Jarrod LoadholtIce Miller LLP partner Jarrod Loadholt was featured in the Law360 article, "Ice Miller Nabs Versatile Public Affairs Partner in DC."

The article included:

Loadholt told Law360 that for a while, he had no intention of returning to work at a law firm because of a previous experience that was less than pleasant. With that in mind, he said he chose to move to Ice Miller because he thought the firm appreciated his skills and the breadth of his experience without restricting him to a single type of practice or field.

"Ice Miller was a unique proposition because they valued the experience I brought to the table," he said. "I'm a lawyer. Lobbying for me is a way to service my clients, but it's not the only thing that I do. I'm also a regulatory attorney, I do public affairs, strategy, a little bit of everything, and most law firms don't know what to do with that. A lot of law firms try to put people in boxes, and if you look at my career, that's the one thing you can't do."

Another factor that Loadholt said influenced his decision to join Ice Miller was that the attorney who recruited him, Michael Coleman, head of the firm's government law practice, is also a person of color. Overall, he said the firm valued him in a way that others did not, showing a true interest in the entire package versus a single aspect of his expertise.

"Valuing what I bring to the table in totality is rare," Loadholt said. "Somebody saw me and the ability to build on what I've already built as a career, valuing it as a partner. There really isn't a lot of openness to evaluating the totality of your work, and Ice Miller did that in a fair way. When I say it was a unique proposition, it was unique because they truly saw who I was as an attorney, a lobbyist and as a public affairs professional."
