What was the greatest milestone of your career?

I see them more as highlights than milestones, and it is hard to single one out as the greatest. There are many I can’t identify due to client confidentiality. Certainly on the short list would be arguing significant tax cases in the Indiana Tax Court and then the Indiana Supreme Court, including an oral argument in one supreme court case with a packed courtroom. Another highlight would be successfully advocating for the Indiana legislature to repeal Indiana’s throwback rule. A group of highlights, which were not SALT matters, would be the opportunity to be involved in the inaugural NASCAR and Formula One races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the later successful reunification of United States open wheel racing. But the most rewarding moments were the times I was able to help clients navigate through the greatest personal and legal crises of their lives. That is when you feel like you have made a meaningful difference.
