The new lead partner at Ice Miller LLP said the landscape for clients and attorneys alike is rapidly changing.

"All of us are facing increased competition from a few new players we would not have had in the past," said Michael "Mike" Jordan, who took over as managing partner of the firm's Columbus office Jan. 1.

For example, major accounting firms are growing their law practices, tech-based legal service providers such as LegalZoom are working with clients who are happy to do business over a computer.

"They're heavily tech based and have some inherent efficiencies in that," Jordan said. "It's a harder path forward for a partner-funded business versus a venture capitalized business."
