Lawmakers Unveil New Intellectual Property Tax Plan
U.S. companies would be eligible for a discounted 10 percent tax rate on a portion of profits from patents, formulas and other intellectual property in a plan that marks a major step toward a revamp of international tax rules. The proposed "innovation box" released by Representatives Charles Boustany and Richard Neal would provide a significant incentive for companies to generate profits in the U.S. and receive a discount off the 35 percent corporate tax rate.

Global V.C. Funding Hits Almost $60 Billion in First Half of 2015
Bolstered by mega-funding rounds, venture capital is set to have its second consecutive historically active year worldwide, according to a report. In the first half of 2015, global funding to venture-backed companies reached $59.8 billion, putting it on track to surpass the $88.3 billion invested in 2014, according to global venture capital tracker CB Insights.

Report Finds Global M&A Activity Set for Record Year in 2015
Merger and acquisition activity is on track to reach record levels this year after a first half dominated by mega deals, even as valuations reach new highs, according to two pieces of research from data company Intralinks and consultancy EY. Global M&A volumes for 2015 will probably increase by about 11 percent from last year, according to Intralinks' latest Deal Flow Predictor, as cheap financing and growth plans drive deals.

Zombie P.E. Funds Sitting on Almost 60% of Unrealized Assets
Zombie private equity funds are sitting on nearly 60 percent more unrealized assets than they were two years ago. Firms that have failed to make exits from their portfolios but continue to survive on management fees -- firms known as zombie funds -- have $126.6 billion worth of assets in their portfolios to exit, according to data provided by Preqin Ltd., paving the way for a rise in complex restructuring deals.

Obama Signs Bill Raising Lending Cap for Small Biz 7(a) Program
U.S. President Barack Obama signed legislation renewing federal loan guarantees for small businesses that were exhausted and also raising the overall cap on the program. The House of Representatives unanimously approved the Small Business Administration loan program in a bill the Senate had already passed.

New Visa for Immigrant Tech Entrepreneurs Proposed
Two U.S. House Democrats are proposing a new visa for immigrants who can obtain "significant" venture capital funding for a business, or can otherwise establish a business that creates some jobs. The legislation is from U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), who represents Silicon Valley, and Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who has been an immigration reform leader.

Soon 3D printers will evolve to allow the use of multiple materials when printing.
