Most Global Companies Still Not Fully Compliant with GDPR Rules
Compliance of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules remains low across the globe, according to the latest research from Dimensional Research. Reports from the Business Information Industry Association said Dimensional Research's latest findings suggest most companies are still not fully GDPR-compliant, with only 20 percent reporting they are fully adhering to the new data security rules.

IRS Issues Guidance on Changes to Executive Comp Deductions
The IRS issued Notice 2018-68 with much-anticipated guidance on changes made to the tax deductibility of executive compensation under Internal Revenue Code Section 162(m), particularly as it relates to performance-based awards. Stricter limits on deducting executive pay were part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, passed at the end of 2017.

GAO Finds Community Banks Increasing Lending to Small Businesses
New data shows that community banks lending to small businesses has increased in recent years. After adjusting regulators' data to account for community bank mergers and other exits, the U.S. Government Accountability Office discovered that remaining banks' lending to SMBs increased from 2013 through 2017 by five percent, and that total business lending by all community banks grew to exceed 2010 levels.

Research Finds Female Entrepreneurs Pay Themselves 28% Less
New research by the online accounting company FreshBooks found that, on average, female entrepreneurs earn (or pay themselves) 28 percent less than their male counterparts do. And while it may be true that women often start companies in lower paid professions, such as house cleaning, catering or child care, the earning gap persists even when comparing male and female business owners in the same industries.

Calif. OKs Bill Requiring At Least One Woman on Company Boards
California just took a crucial step toward increasing the number of women on corporate boards. State legislators passed a bill that would require publicly-traded companies headquartered in California to place at least one woman on their board by the end of next year -- or face a penalty.
