Ice Miller Adds Attorney Talent Manager in Columbus

Ice Miller has added Cybele Smith as an attorney talent manager in its Columbus Office. Smith will assist with the firm’s legal recruiting and professional development efforts in all offices. 

“Cybele is held in very high esteem in Columbus,” said Catherine Strauss, office managing partner of Ice Miller’s Columbus office. “The firm is greatly looking forward to working with her to recruit the best law students and to attract additional lateral hires to Ice Miller.”

Smith joins the firm from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she served as director of the Public Service Law Center and Public Interest Programs. In that role, she managed all public interest and government career counseling for Moritz, as well the school’s recruitment activities and resource management.

“During her time here, Cybele has consistently demonstrated our core value of putting students first, advocating for so many of our students now and throughout our alumni ranks,” said Lincoln L. Davies, dean and Frank R. Strong chair in law of the Moritz College of Law. “Cybele’s former students regularly reach out to let her know about current job openings for our grads and even continue to seek her advice about their own career moves.”

During her nearly 24-year tenure at the Ohio State University Mortiz College of Law, Smith also held the positions of interim director and assistant director of career services. In the past five years, Smith was honored three times by students, who recognized her as “Outstanding Staff Member” at the college’s graduation ceremony. 

Smith is a member of the American Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, and Columbus Bar Association. She is an active member of the National Association for Law Placement and just completed a term as Vice President of Education and Member Services. She earned her juris doctor from Capital University Law School in 1997 and her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The Ohio State University. 

Smith joins Pascale Bishop, manager of attorney integration, and Kiva Zytnick, attorney talent manager, on Ice Miller's talent management team. Bishop joined the firm’s Chicago office in April and Zytnick joined the Washington, D.C. office in January.
