Ice Miller Announces New 2021 Partners

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to announce 10 new Firm partners effective Jan. 1, 2021.

The new partners are: James Banister, Charles Bush, Kevin Ewing, Jennifer Frasier, Audrey Howard, Heather Maly, Lindsay Miller, Amir Ovcina, Megan Ryther and Ryan Waggoner.

James Banister, a partner in our Health Care and Business Practice Groups, assists privately held and publicly traded companies across a variety of industries with corporate and business matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and securities. James has successfully represented health care providers, manufacturers and other clients in a range of transactions including hospital acquisitions and dispositions and health system joint ventures.

Charles Bush, a partner in our Labor and Employment Group, works with his clients in Indiana and across the nation to develop effective strategies unique to their specific situations. Charles focuses on solutions that incorporate not only the law, but also its strategic and practical application to each client’s objectives. Charles advises employers on all issues related to labor and employment, including hiring, promotion, performance evaluation, harassment, leave of absence, wage and hour, reductions in force, discipline and discharge, traditional labor law matters and National Labor Relations Board administrative matters. He also represents colleges and universities in disputes related to Title IX and matters before the Office for Civil Rights.
Kevin Ewing, a partner in our Real Estate Group, has a broad range of real estate transactional experience and focuses his practice on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, financing and dispositions. Kevin also has experience with commercial real estate leases and operational agreements. He has negotiated and documented loans for various commercial property types and loan structures, including complex multi-property portfolio loans, and has primarily represented borrowers in traditional real property secured loans, loan restructurings and in obtaining working capital loans.
Jennifer Frasier, a partner in our Business Group, focuses her practice on business services, general corporate matters and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Ice Miller in 2016, Jenny served as corporate counsel for a national utility services company where she advised management on contractual matters and regulatory compliance, oversaw all litigation, monitored intellectual property issues, and provided strategic counsel on all aspects of the employment relationship.
Audrey Howard, a partner in our Litigation Group, provides risk management and litigation services for a wide range of commercial matters and clients. Audrey focuses her practice in defending and advising manufacturers, distributers and retailers. She has defended companies in several types of complex litigation, including national class actions, multi-district litigation cases, product liability matters, premises liability matters, warranty matters, and indemnification claims. Additionally, Audrey has experience defending a variety of businesses in general competitive business litigation matters and has represented clients in numerous state and federal courts.  
Heather Maly, a partner in our Business and Litigation Groups, focuses her practice on commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, consumer class action defense, and employment litigation. Heather represents clients in the media and entertainment, consumer product, health care, fashion, insurance and financial services industries. She concentrates on litigation arising from commercial disputes that often originate in business transactions, investments and business ownership. She has litigated a broad range of breach of contract suits and other business torts such as breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with contract and misrepresentation and fraud.
Lindsay Miller, a partner in our Public Affairs and Government Law Groups, has nearly fifteen years of experience in technology initiatives. Lindsay has a reputation in the broadband and telecommunications arena of being a strong advocate with a successful track record in building relationships with public and private sector stakeholders. She regularly advises municipalities on how to utilize Public-Private Partnerships for fiber and Wi-Fi expansion in order to build smarter cities and leverage the Internet of Things (IoT). This includes providing guidance and counseling to multi-sector leaders as they seek to develop and finance Smart City infrastructure and implement policies to enable developing technologies, such as connected/ autonomous vehicles (CAVs).
Amir Ovcina, a partner in our Business Group, regularly counsels his clients, including private equity funds and portfolio companies, in the following areas: acquisitions, dispositions, offers of equity and debt security, strategic partnerships and joint ventures. Amir works closely with his clients’ business and legal teams to resolve complex contractual issues and negotiate terms and conditions into final definitive agreements. He negotiates and drafts various strategic transaction and investment documents, including purchase, investment management, LLC operating, subscription, shareholder, non-disclosure and administration and transition services agreements and bylaws. In addition, Amir handles legal due diligence, commercial contracts and corporate governance matters.
Megan Ryther, a partner in our Business and Collegiate Sports and NCAA Compliance Group, concentrates her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, general corporate matters, NCAA athletics infractions and compliance matters in addition to assisting the Firm’s college, university and sports industry clients on variety of matters. 
Ryan Waggoner, a partner in our Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Services Group, helps nonprofit organizations navigate tax laws and increase impact. He practices exclusively in the nonprofit space and serves as outside counsel to a broad base of tax-exempt organizations, in the United States and around the globe. His clients include private foundations; public charities; corporate foundations; colleges and universities; churches, synagogues and mosques; trade associations; labor unions; political organizations; economic development and quasi-governmental entities; scientific and research institutions and foreign-based charities.
