Ice Miller LLP’s Day of Service is Friday, Nov. 3, 2017. Ice Miller teams across all markets will spend the day volunteering with local nonprofits. The Day of Service is coordinated by the Ice Miller Foundation.
“Our Day of Service is an opportunity to give back to our communities, which are vital to the success of our Firm and clients,” said Gina Giacone, member of the Ice Miller Foundation Board of Directors. “Many of our professionals are involved with specific community organizations, mentorships and programs about which they are passionate, but the Day of Service is an opportunity for our Firm to demonstrate as one unit our community appreciation.”
Chicago and DuPage County, Ill.
Ice Miller’s Chicago and DuPage County, Ill. offices will work from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with Hinsdale Hospital Foundation. Volunteers will tour the Cancer Institute facilities then prepare chemo kit bags for patients. The bags will contain a variety of items that bring comfort to patients undergoing treatment.
The Hinsdale Hospital Foundation is dedicated to nurturing community goodwill and philanthropy for AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center, Hinsdale and its cancer, hospice and outpatient programs.
Ice Miller’s Cleveland office will work from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore, one of the largest reuse and recycle centers in Ohio’s Cuyahoga County, which sells new and gently used building supplies, tools, furniture, appliances and more.
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity strengthens communities, restores homes, revitalizes local neighborhoods and invests in neighbors’ quest to become homeowners. It has helped make homeownership a possibility for more than 225 Habitat homeowners and over 800 children in Greater Cleveland.
Ice Miller’s Columbus office will help out at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will assist the chef in preparing a meal for families, baking treats, making no-sew blankets for families and stocking guestrooms for families with necessary supplies.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio has provided families of seriously-ill children with a home-away-from-home since 1982. Each year, nearly 4,500 families come to the world’s largest Ronald McDonald House in search of a place to call home while they care for their children.
Ice Miller’s Indianapolis office will volunteer with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteers will sort and pack donated food and non-food items and fill bags Gleaners distributes each week to kids in need.
Gleaners fights against hunger in Indiana by distributing food to more than 250 partner agencies in 21 Indiana counties. It also provides direct services to those struggling with hunger, through programs such as BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids; School-Based Pantry; C.A.R.E. Mobile Pantry and Community Cupboard.
New York
Ice Miller’s New York office will serve in the Food Bank for New York City’s Shop and Stock with Seniors in West Harlem from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will assist senior citizen members of the pantry, check out and bag groceries and restock shelves at the choice-style food pantry that provides more than 40,000 meals a month.
Food Bank for New York City’s mission is to end hunger by organizing food, information and support for community survival, empowerment and dignity. As the city’s largest hunger-relief organization, it employs a multifaceted approach centered on helping low-income New Yorkers overcome their circumstances and achieve greater independence.
Ice Miller’s Philadelphia office will team up with Philabundance between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. to package food for the homeless.
Philabundance is an innovative, impactful and collaborative organization distributing more than 24 million pounds of food a year to those in need. It is a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks leading the fight against hunger in the United States.
