Ice Miller Names Simone Park 2020 LCLD Pathfinder

Ice Miller LLP has chosen Simone Park, an attorney in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group, as its 2020 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinder. Simone will participate in a program designed by the LCLD to train high-performing, early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including leadership and the building of professional networks.

“This is a great honor for Simone, who is one of the young stars at our Firm, and her participation in the LCLD Pathfinder program provides development and mentoring opportunities that will enhance her ability to lead, not only at our Firm, but in the profession,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller.

According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Pathfinder Program offers participants “intensive in-person training, online experiential learning, and opportunities to network with peers and esteemed LCLD Fellows and Alumni in small group gatherings. We believe it’s a program that can help catapult a person’s career.”

Simone focuses her practice on patent infringement and invalidity analyses, IP-related agreements and assessing patent portfolios. Simone has handled matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the International Trade Commission and District Court. As a grad student at the University of Michigan, Simone co-invented U.S. Patent No. US 8,539,813, which was directed to a non-biological test material for ultrasound therapy. She first authored a publication for original research work on an application for a new technology using ultrasound to perform non-invasive surgery (histotripsy) and spoke at the 2011 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium.

Simone joins a select group of experienced Ice Miller attorneys from diverse backgrounds who have been recognized for their leadership potential in recent years. Partner Freedom Smith was a 2019 LCLD Fellow, partner Isaac Colunga was a 2018 LCLD Fellow and attorney Charles Bush was a 2018 LCLD Pathfinder.

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a growing organization of more than 320 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners who are personally committed to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The LCLD Pathfinder Program has trained nearly 700 early-career attorneys since 2015, catering to junior lawyers in law firms and corporate legal departments who have demonstrated potential to become future leaders in the legal profession.
