Ice Miller Partner Matt Ehinger Named Up and Coming Lawyer by Indiana Lawyer

Ice Miller is pleased to congratulate partner Matt Ehinger for being named an Up and Coming Lawyer by Indiana Lawyer’s Leadership in Law program. As a recipient of this honor, Matt demonstrates strong leadership skills and the willingness and ability to positively impact his community. Each year, Indiana Lawyer honors members of the legal profession who are making a mark early in their careers with the Leadership in Law Up and Coming Lawyer award.

Matt Ehinger is a partner in the Firm's Tax Group. Matt focuses his practice on state and local tax planning, compliance and controversy. He also advises tax-exempt clients (including nonprofit and governmental entities) on a broad range of issues. Matt advises clients on a variety of state and local income tax issues, including income tax, sales tax, as well as real and personal property tax. In addition to tax planning, Matt has represented his clients in audits and administrative appeals with the Indiana Department of Revenue, as well as in property tax disputes in front of Indiana Property Tax Assessment Boards of Appeal and the Indiana Board of Tax Review. Matt's work also includes representing clients in front of the Indiana Tax Court in tax controversies.

Matt was selected by his peers to serve on the Indianapolis Bar Association tax committee and has served in every officer position including chairman. Likewise, Matt is a member of the Indiana Bar Association and serves on the tax committee of that organization. Matt also serves on the Indiana Manufacturing Association’s tax committee.

Matt is on the board of directors and previously served on the executive committee for Jameson Camp, an Indiana-based nonprofit which aims to enrich the lives of youth, helping them to discover their strengths through camps and activities. Jameson Camp particularly focuses on serving children with disabilities and health concerns. Mentorship, education and environmental stewardship are all important parts of the Jameson Camp mission, and Matt is proud to support its programming.

Additionally, Matt has served out his passion for education as a member of the Indianapolis Regional Council of the DePauw University Alumni Association. Matt is proud to serve his alma mater in this capacity and particularly enjoys interacting with and supporting the university’s students. He is also active and helps organize activities for the DePauw Law Association. Matt recently served on the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s IPS Operational Taskforce that focused on the evaluation and analysis of the potential consolidation of schools throughout the Indianapolis Public School District.
