Ice Miller Welcomes Abigail Barr

Ice Miller is pleased to welcome attorney Abigail Barr to the Firm’s Labor, Employment and Immigration Group. She has extensive experience in collective bargaining, mediation and arbitration, practicing before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the EEOC and the State Personnel Board of Review and various other labor and employment matters.

Before entering private practice, Abigail was a staff attorney for the Ohio Board of Nursing. She responded to charges of discrimination with both the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and handled various employee matters pertaining to FMLA, FLSA and ADA. In addition, she conducted staff training on statewide and Board policies and procedures, made recommendations on discipline for Board employees and acted as liaison between Board management and the labor unions.

“Abigail has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “Her work in various administrative agencies has equipped her with a deep understanding of the intricacies of labor and employment law, which will greatly benefit the Firm and our clients.”

Abigail previously acted as a policy analyst for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services’ Office of Collective Bargaining. In this role, Abigail participated in the collective bargaining process for five separate union contracts, represented the state of Ohio in mediations and arbitrations with the unions, responded to unfair labor practice charges filed with the State Employment Relations Board and assisted state agencies in contract and policy interpretation.
