Ice Miller Welcomes Attorney Rachel Spiker

Ice Miller is pleased to welcome Rachel Spiker, an attorney in the Firm’s Litigation and Data Security and Privacy Practice Groups. Rachel’s work includes assisting with responses to significant data security incidents. She also analyzes the impact of state laws and the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) on information sharing with law enforcement, conducts “risk of harm” analysis for many states and advises on FINRA obligations and regulations related to security incidents.

Rachel is a Certified Information Privacy Professional U.S. Private-Sector (CIPP/US). She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) and the Health Information Technology Practice Group within AHLA.

“We are excited to welcome Rachel to the Firm’s Litigation and Data Security and Privacy Practices,” said Steve Humke, chief managing partner of Ice Miller. “She understands the rapidly evolving nature of the industry, which helps her provide comprehensive counsel to our clients.”

Before joining Ice Miller, Rachel served as a legal fellow at a national bank where she assisted with drafting and updating contracts, managed claims in conjunction with outside counsel, conducted document review and worked with compliance on evaluating risk and creating compliance plans for a variety of regulatory requirements.

Rachel received her juris doctor from The Ohio State University College of Law in 2017. During law school, she gained experience in data security and privacy as a legal intern for the contracts team in Ohio State’s Technology Commercialization Office. She reviewed sponsored research agreements and detailed encumbrances on technology and licensing agreements. In addition, Rachel researched a variety of mediation issues as a research assistant for Ohio State’s Dispute Resolution Divided Community Project.
