Ice Miller Welcomes Jason Rafeld, Of Counsel, Public Affairs Group

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to welcome Jason Rafeld as of counsel in its Public Affairs Group. Jason offers his clients common-sense solutions based on his extensive experience in key decision-making roles. He focuses on energy issues but handles a wide variety of regulatory and strategic projects.

"Jason brings with him a diverse array of experience as a decision maker within key Ohio state government agencies,” said Richard Barnhart, managing partner of Ice Miller. "His understanding of the intricacies of federal, state and local government brings a valuable perspective to our Public Affairs Team."

Jason most recently served as the chief of staff to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (“PUCO”) where he led the staff on complicated ratemaking and other energy issues. Previously, he was the chief of staff and chief operating officer of the Ohio Department of Education, as well as the chief legal officer for the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Jason has nearly 25 years of public and private experience dealing with all levels of government and is a recognized problem solver in addressing complicated issues.

In private law practice, Jason handled criminal defense issues and spent the majority of his time in court. He successfully defended criminal cases and litigated civil and contractual disputes.
