Katie Marschke Recognized by Indiana Lawyer as Up and Coming Lawyer

Ice Miller LLP is pleased to congratulate Katie Marschke for being recognized by the Indiana Lawyer Leadership in Law program as an Up and Coming Lawyer. The award recognizes Katie’s outstanding leadership skills and the positive impact she has made on her community. Each year, the Indiana Lawyer honors members of the legal profession who have made a significant impact in the community and achieved noteworthy success in their careers with the Leadership in Law Up and Coming Lawyer Award.

Katie Marschke is an associate in Ice Miller’s Real Estate Group. She advises and represents developers of commercial, retail, and residential properties, as well as local municipalities in all areas of real estate transactions, including leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, finance and land use. Katie practiced as a business litigator at Ice Miller for four years before transitioning to real estate. Katie continues to assist clients with disputes amongst landlords/tenants, contractors, and neighbors both before and during litigation.

Since 2017, Katie has been on the board of Partnership for Affordable Housing, a non-profit organization that aims to develop and provide housing and other services to low- and moderate-income Hoosier families. In addition, Katie was a founding board member for Young Professionals for a Cure, which is a part of the Susan G. Komen Central Indiana non-profit. During her time on the board, Katie also was a volunteer with Susan G. Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure, a non-profit organization that raises and invests money for impact grants and national research programs to treat breast cancer.

Katie is particularly passionate about mentorship. She frequently mentors the new or younger associates in her group and continues to a mentor to a few associates in litigation, her former practice area. Katie is also dedicated to assisting Ice Miller attorneys in achieving their philanthropic goals and thus serves as a member of the Firm’ Community Involvement Committee, which helps to connect Ice Miller attorneys with opportunities in the community and encourages them to give back.

To grow her professional background in real estate, Katie actively participates in IndyCREW events, an industry group geared specifically toward women in real estate. She is also a member of the Indianapolis chapter of the Urban Land Institute professional organization. In this organization, she is part of the Young Leader’s Group and Women’s Leadership Initiative.

She received her Bachelor of Science in hospitality and tourism management at Purdue University in 2009, graduating with high distinction. Her focus was restaurant management. Katie attended law school at Pennsylvania State University, the Dickinson School of Law in State College, Pa. She graduated magna cum laude and received her juris doctor in 2013. Katie was an editor for the Penn State Law Review and on the executive board for Phi Alpha Delta, the national professional law fraternity.
