Matt Miller Selected as a 2022 Diversity in Business Award Honoree

Ice Miller partner Matt Miller has been selected as a 2022 Honoree of Columbus Business First’s Diversity in Business Awards in the Outstanding Diversity Champion category. The Diversity in Business Awards celebrate the work of inclusive organizations and individuals in Central Ohio and cover excellence in all areas of diversity, including age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race and religion. 

Miller and his fellow honorees will be recognized at an in-person awards reception on April 6 and will be featured in a special section in the April 8 issue of Columbus Business First. 

Miller is a partner in Ice Miller’s Public Finance Group, and he also serves on various internal committees at the firm, including his role as co-chair of the P3/Infrastructure Practice Group, and chair of the Ice Miller Racial Justice Task Force. 

As chair of the Racial Justice Task Force, Miller is responsible for identifying opportunities such as grassroots organizations, partnerships and internal resources that can be leveraged to dismantle structural and systemic racism in the law and to promote racial equity.  Throughout his legal career, Miller has devoted time to mentoring young attorneys, particularly those of color.

Miller is also involved in Chicago-based organizations and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights and on the Professions’ Council for the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law. In addition, he was instrumental in creating an expungement clinic partnership between the Cabrini Green Legal Aid, DePaul College of Law and Ice Miller, and also volunteers for the Legal Aid Society of Columbus’ Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP). 

In his public finance practice, Matt serves as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriter’s counsel on a variety of transactions, including in the financing and operations of public transportation systems. He also advises government entities and developers on public-private partnerships for social and transportation infrastructure projects, infrastructure investment and project delivery methods, the integration of sustainability solutions in projects, and the applicability of various economic development tools.
