Melissa Borom Appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Chicago/Gary Regional Airport

Ice Miller Senior Director of Public Affairs Melissa Borom has been appointed Deputy Executive Director of the Chicago/Gary Regional Airport Authority by the Mayor of Gary, Indiana, Jerome A. Prince. 

Borom will be the liaison between the Chicago Gary Regional Airport Authority (CGRAA) and the City of Chicago Department of Aviation ("DOA") and the Gary-Chicago Airport Authority (the "Authority"). In this role, she will help to identify problems and areas of conflict between DOA and the Authority, bring such issues to the attention of the CGRAA Board, and work with the staff of DOA and the Authority to help resolve such problems and areas of conflict.

“Ms. Borom is a talented and engaging professional,” said Mayor Prince in his official appointment letter. “She has my utmost confidence and I have no doubt that she will be an asset to the Authority going forward.” 

Previously, Borom managed government affairs for a global aviation company. In that role, she led state and local government affairs in Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Oklahoma and New York. 

As Senior Director of Public Affairs at Ice Miller, Borom is responsible for development of the firm’s public policy strategy. Borom establishes and maintains relationships with federal, state and local officials to meet the firm’s strategic goals. She will continue to serve in this role along with her new appointment. 

Borom has also served as an aide to U.S. Senator Richard “Dick” Durbin and as assistant press secretary for U.S. House Representative Peter “Pete” Visclosky.
