Michael Coleman Appointed to the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial

Ice Miller partner-in-Charge of Government Relations Michael Coleman was recently appointed as co-chair of the Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial. The duty of the commission is to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. and the impact of Ohioans on the nation's past, present and future.

As Partner-in-Charge of Ice Miller’s Government Law Group and Vice Chair of the Public Affairs Group, Michael leads Ice Miller's legal and professional team in Ohio. This includes creating partnerships between business and government, real estate development in Central Ohio, economic development and financing, government regulatory matters and local, state and federal administrative and legislative government relations.

Michael is also the former Mayor and CEO of the City of Columbus, Ohio. During his sixteen years as Mayor, Michael strengthened Columbus’ reputation by supporting safer neighborhoods; creating jobs and maintaining a high quality of life. 

He also led the city through numerous equity, diversity and inclusion issues; including but not limited to, multiple issues involving the U.S. Department of Justice and the Division of Police in the city, minority business development initiatives, immigration policy matters and racial justice issues. Michael frequently advises government and business leaders regarding race, inclusion, equity and diversity issues. He is also a frequent speaker and author on issues involving racial justice in the black community in America.
