Michael Coleman Honored with Living Legend Award

Ice Miller LLP congratulates partner Michael Coleman for being honored with the Living Legend Award at the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Awards Gala at the National Urban League Conference in Columbus, Ohio on August 3.

Michael served as Mayor of Columbus, Ohio from 2000 to 2015. Columbus has the distinguished reputation as one of the best cities in the nation for jobs, young professionals, creativity and diversity. Michael was responsible for building stronger, safer neighborhoods and transformed the city through partnerships between business and government. In addition, Michael was the longest-serving mayor in Columbus history and the longest-serving incumbent African-American mayor among major U.S. cities.

This year, the National Urban League Conference was titled, “Save Our Cities: Powering the Digital Revolution.” The program explored the role of cutting-edge technology in every aspect of today’s social and economic landscape and brought together leading digital innovators in business and industry, government, community and the arts to confront the nation’s challenges and plan a path to success. The goal of the annual conference was to give each participant real-world solutions to urban challenges and empower them to be a change-leader in their communities. The event included engaging discussions and panels, workshops and networking events.

Michael Coleman is a partner in Ice Miller’s Public Affairs and Government Law Group, and he participates in the Internet of Things and Real Estate Development Groups. He also serves as the Firm’s Director of Business and Government Strategies.
