Tara Sciscoe Accepted to Serve on Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council

Ice Miller LLP partner Tara Sciscoe was accepted to serve on the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC) as part of the Tax Exempt / Government Entities Subgroup.

The IRSAC is an advisory body designed to focus on broad policy matters. It proposes enhancements to IRS operations and recommends administrative and policy changes to improve taxpayer service, compliance and tax administration. It also discusses relevant information reporting issues, addresses matters concerning tax-exempt and government entities and conveys the public's perception of professional standards and best practices for tax professionals.

Each year, the IRSAC holds a public meeting and memorializes its advice in at least one written public annual report. The goal of each annual report is to ensure transparency in the work of government agencies and to keep Congress and the public informed of the activities of various advisory bodies in accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act.

IRSAC members represent a cross-section of the taxpaying public and new members are drawn from a diverse pool of candidates through a nomination process. Each council member is required to serve a three-year term. This is Sciscoe’s first time serving on the IRSAC. 

Sciscoe is a partner in Ice Miller’s Employee Benefits Group. She advises employers, plans and trusts with respect to the design and compliance of their employee benefit programs, including their retirement plans, deferred compensation plans, health and welfare plans, severance plans, early retirement programs, executive compensation programs, tuition remission and fringe benefit plans, and phased retirement programs.
