Ohio to Announce Winners of Medical Marijuana Dispensary Lottery This Week

The Ohio Medical Marijuana Program is set to expand the number of dispensaries from 57 to 130, announcing 73 new provisional licensees this Thursday, January 27. The drawings of all eligible applications submitted during the second request for dispensary applications (referred to as RFAII) will be completed by the Ohio Lottery Commission, with each application assigned a unique draw identification number. The program divided Ohio into 31 districts to ensure the geographic distribution of dispensaries around the state.

The rules governing the program prohibit an owner from holding more than five dispensary licenses at any time. The applicants specified the district(s) wherein they are applying, and the announcement will be awarded based on those districts.

The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy will draw the licenses by district order, starting with SW-3, which includes Shelby, Logan, and Miami Counties, and ending with NW-4, which includes Henry, Wood, and Hancock Counties. Below is the full breakdown of each district and the number of new licenses.

The Board will award up to six licenses to proposed dispensaries in Franklin County and five licenses to proposed dispensaries in Cuyahoga County, Ohio’s most populated counties:
