Updates in Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program

The Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (“MMCP”) continues to aggressively push forward licensure of medical marijuana. State regulations have been clarified and filed, and marijuana related businesses (“MRBs”) are closer to opening their doors.

In the past month, the administrative rules for testing labs, processors, and dispensaries, were finalized and became active. In addition, the MMCP released dispensary applications on Sept.19, 2017, and is requiring them to be submitted Nov. 3-17, 2017.

It is expected that applications for processors will be released in short order with a similar timeline for submission. No recent expenditures related to the MMCP have occurred in the State Controlling Board. Per the August meeting of the MMCP, we expect cultivator licenses to be awarded within the month after dispensary and processor applications are submitted.

Please contact Albert Lin, Stephanie Courter, Greg Gorospe or another Ice Miller attorney with any questions related to the MMCP, financial institutions working with MRBs or BSA-AML in the medical marijuana sphere.
