USCIS Reaches FY2020 H-1B Cap

As anticipated, USCIS has announced that the H-1B quota for fiscal year 2020 has been reached.  USCIS received 201,011 H-1B petitions during the filing period, an increase of nearly 11,000 from the 190,098 petitions USCIS received last year for fiscal year 2019. As a result, employers must now wait until next April for the opportunity to seek H-1B approval for new foreign workers requiring H-1B status at the start of fiscal year 2021 (October 1, 2020). USCIS is currently conducting a lottery to determine which cases will be selected and processed for fiscal year 2020. For more information regarding the lottery selection process, please see our previous article. Please contact Jenifer Brown, Christl Glier, or Kristin Kelley to discuss the H-1B visa program or any other immigration needs.
