Ice Miller LLP has served as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and special counsel to local governments since its founding in 1910.

Our attorneys have served as bond counsel to numerous counties, villages, cities, school districts, park districts, forest preserve districts and authorities located in Ohio. The Ohio public finance team has served or has provided legal services in connection with the issuances of bonds and notes by all level of governmental subdivisions.

Each year, in our Illinois, Indiana and Ohio offices, we approve 330 to 400 long-term municipal financings with a total principal of up to $6.8 billion. In 2015 and 2016, according to Thomson Reuters, Ice Miller ranked fourth in Ohio bond counsel based on principal amount of bonds issued.

Ice Miller has been ranked among national leaders in many types of tax-exempt financings, including financings for public schools, charter schools, higher education, hospitals, senior living facilities, infrastructure, cities and villages, and tax increment and economic development transactions.

According to the Feb. 15, 2017, issue of The Bond Buyer, during 2016, Ice Miller ranked third in the Midwest Region as Bond Counsel, the highest ranking of any listed firm with offices in Ohio.

Firmwide, 30 lawyers, including Ohio lawyers, Mike Melliere (27 years experience), Jim Snyder (28 years experience), Kip Wahlers (27 years experience), Susan Price (15 years experience)  and Ben Kitto (4 years experience) devote their practice to municipal finance.
