Ice Miller LLP has served as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and special counsel to local governments since its founding in 1910.

Our Ohio Municipal Finance Team has served as bond counsel to the state of Ohio and various counties, villages, cities, school districts, port authorities and other political subdivisions located in Ohio. Our Municipal Finance Team has also served as disclosure counsel, underwriter's counsel, borrower's counsel and bank counsel in connection with numerous tax-exempt and taxable financings throughout Ohio.

Over the last decade, Ice Miller’s Municipal Finance Group has served as bond counsel on more than 3,100 issues with a total principal amount of over $55,000,000,000. In 2018, according to Thomson Reuters, Ice Miller ranked fifth in Ohio bond counsel based on principal amount of bonds issued and was the only firm with an Ohio office to rank in the top six Midwest bond counsel based on principal amount of bonds issued (fourth).

Ice Miller has been ranked among national leaders in (i) traditional tax-exempt financings for states, counties, villages, cities, school districts and other political subdivisions; (ii) qualified private activity bonds, including financings for charter schools, higher education, hospitals and senior living facilities; and (iii) tax-exempt and taxable financings for infrastructure, including tax increment and other economic development financings.
