Alex Norlander is of counsel in Ice Miller’s Real Estate Practice Group, where he represents clients in all phases of acquisition, disposition, operation and leasing projects. Alex has considerable experience in commercial leasing transactions and negotiating leases with numerous national retail tenants on behalf of retail owners. Alex represents property owners and tenants with complex leases involving office, retail, industrial, and mixed-use properties.

He also counsels corporate clients on the structure and formation of entities for the purpose of acquiring, developing and managing real estate in addition to general corporate matters, including the preparation of corporate governance documents and operating agreements. As counsel to property management and brokerage companies, he has counseled clients in connection with landlord and tenant issues, third-party claims and licensing compliance as well.
 
Alex emphasizes practical and efficient solutions to his clients, while providing service in all phases of real estate transactions. He approaches his legal matters with a focus on detail but does not lose sight of the big picture and goals of his clients. Alex has helped clients, large and small, by providing solutions to all of their real estate transactional needs.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Alex’s recent transactional experience includes representation of a real estate developer in the negotiation and sale of $72 million and $70 million luxury apartment complexes.
 
Alex earned his juris doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law (formerly known as the John Marshall Law School), where he served as an executive business editor for the Journal of Computer and Information Law Review
