Andre' Ashmore is Ice Miller’s director of governmental affairs.
 
Throughout his career, Andre' has worked for several governmental agencies in Illinois, including the Department of Commerce & Equal Opportunity and the Department of Transportation. He also served under two Illinois governors as director of local government affairs for the Office of the Governor, managing all matters pertaining to units of local government throughout the state.

Andre' is a former elected official, having served as mayor of the Village of Matteson, Illinois, from 2008 to 2017. As mayor, he managed senior level staff involved in the creation, direction and implementation of large economic development strategic projects.
 
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Andre' served as a senior labor relations officer for the Cook County Bureau of Human Resources. In this role, he led collective bargaining negotiations as a representative for the county, collected and maintained control of proposals and tentative agreements and worked with the senior labor counsel to identify issues and develop strategy for collective bargaining.
 
Previously, Andre' served as dean of liberal arts, business, technology and legal studies at South Suburban College, where he managed academic programs, budgets and faculty.
 
Andre' has experience as a registered lobbyist and consultant servicing a variety of governmental and private sector clients, including over fifteen years of experience lobbying the Illinois General Assembly and the Chicago City Council. As such, Andre' is extremely familiar with the lobbying process in Springfield, Illinois.

His experiences serving as a local elected official in the Village of Matteson, as director of local government affairs for the Office of the Governor and as a registered lobbyist consultant have allowed him to develop numerous relationships in the Illinois General Assembly, the City of Chicago and Cook County, Illinois. Andre' effectively maintains these connections with government officials at the state, county, township, school district and local levels.
 

Andre' is well-versed in reviewing and analyzing proposed legislation and advising clients on its potential impacts. He has extensive experience directly lobbying legislators and executive branch level officers in favor of and/or against certain proposed legislation. Additionally, Andre' has experience assisting in the drafting of legislation and preparing a detailed analysis of such legislation, and testifying before legislative committees and panels.

Andre' earned his juris doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. He received his Master of Science in criminal justice and his Bachelor of Arts in political science from Chicago State University.
 
Andre' is an adjunct professor of public administration, criminal justice and political science at Governors State University and an associate adjunct professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
