Anthony Dey is an associate in Ice Miller’s Business Group, where he concentrates his practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, banking, private equity transactions and general corporate matters. Anthony’s leadership experience informs his understanding of complex financial transactions in order to aid clients in navigating difficult issues.

Anthony attended West Point and began his career as a commissioned infantry officer in the U.S. Army. He spent nearly a decade leading infantry and special operations soldiers, including three deployments to Afghanistan and one deployment to Iraq. Notably, Anthony led a Ranger platoon in the execution of a helicopter and ground assault that ultimately led to the elimination of the top two leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq.

Anthony also planned and coordinated more than one hundred multinational missions on the continent of Africa in support of Department of Defense and State Department initiatives. These missions involved military and government persons from the U.S., South Sudan, Guinea, Kenya, Chad, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France. 

Anthony’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (three awards), Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault Badge, Airborne Badge, Ranger Tab, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (three awards), Iraq Campaign Medal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation and NATO Medal.

After leaving the military, Anthony gained experience as a leader in operations and safety for two Fortune 500 firms in the medical device manufacturing and steel industries. He earned his M.B.A. from the UNC Kenan-Flagler School of Business in 2018, focusing his studies on valuations, financial statement analysis and corporate transactions. After moving to Columbus, Ohio, Anthony passed his Series 7 General Securities Representative Examination and worked for JP Morgan Chase as a Risk Analyst for the firm’s Private Equity and Hedge Fund clients in the northeast region of the U.S.

While earning his juris doctor from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, Anthony partnered with his wife to found Modern Elevations Dentistry, the first dental practice to be established in Etna, Ohio. He managed the practice finances, human resources, regulatory compliance and non-clinical operations in order to ensure an accelerated growth rate.

During law school, Anthony focused his studies on securities, corporate transactions and general corporate matters. He competed in several moot court competitions, including the Duberstein National Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition and National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition and was named “Best Overall” at the Moritz 1L Moot Court Competition. Anthony wrote about currency markets and presented a paper on sovereign state currency controls during his 3L year.

When not in the office, Anthony enjoys playing the violin and is an avid supporter of the Columbus Symphony and BalletMet. When able, he also spends time supporting the Buckeyes, Browns, Cavs and Indians.
