Brian Cavanaugh is an associate in Ice Miller’s Litigation Practice Group.
Brian joined Ice Miller as a summer associate in 2019.
During law school, Brian served as a summer clerk for the Honorable Judge Mark J. Dinsmore of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, where he assisted the judge with research and drafting orders and opinions for pending litigation. Brian also spent a semester completing a judicial internship with the Honorable Justice Geoffrey G. Slaughter of the Indiana Supreme Court. Brian spent the 2019 budget session as a legal extern for the Indiana House of Representatives Democratic Caucus, Office of General Counsel, where he assisted with legal and legislative research.
Brian earned his juris doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law where he attended on a full-ride, merit scholarship. While in law school, Brian was an associate editor and note candidate for the Indiana Health Law Review. He also competed in the Stanton Intramural Moot Court competition and was a member of the Dean’s Tutorial Society.
Prior to law school, Brian served as an aide to United States Senator Joe Donnelly for three years. During that time, Brian served the senator as a liaison to the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of State. He was primarily responsible for immigration and consular affairs.
During his undergraduate career at Indiana University, Brian was selected to participate in the university’s Washington Leadership Program. Brian spent a semester studying in Washington D.C. while working on Capitol Hill.
