D. Kirk Marker is an associate in Ice Miller’s Litigation Group. Kirk joined Ice Miller in September 2017 and is admitted to practice law in Ohio. In addition to his juris doctor, Kirk is a certified Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Prior to law school, Kirk worked for a regional construction company where he served in several positions, including project engineer, project manager, senior project manager, preconstruction manager, project executive, BIM technology manager, and civic/municipal division manager.

As a project manager, Kirk managed multiple projects concurrently with an average of 35 contracts on each project. He was directly responsible for managing over $100M in construction projects, which provided him substantial transactional and construction scope review knowledge. Kirk also has advanced CPM scheduling experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera Suretrak, Primavera Contractor, Primavera P3, and Primavera P6. Many of the schedules Kirk built and managed were sophisticated and resource-loaded.

Kirk is experienced in managing multiple construction project types (including zoological, religious, educational, commercial, municipal, federal, and industrial) and multiple delivery methods (including design-bid-build, construction manager as advisor, construction manager at risk, and design-build).

During law school, Kirk was a judicial extern for the Honorable Justice Judith Ann Lanzinger at the Supreme Court of Ohio, as well as the Honorable Chief Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr. at the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Kirk served as a teaching assistant for the Legal Research and Writing Program. Kirk also received the CALI Award for Excellence (top student) in several classes.
