Dann Bruno is an associate in Ice Miller’s Business Group, where he focuses on private equity and venture capital, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property. Dan applies his scientific background and extensive experience working with high-growth technology companies to help clients navigate and close complex transactions.

Dann worked with new and emerging companies as a corporate attorney for a large Midwest firm before joining Ice Miller. He supported high-growth technology companies and investors on issues related to financings, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, customer contracts, strategic partnerships, contractor and employee matters, intellectual property and corporate governance. He drafted agreements, prepared forms and made filings related to regulatory matters, including federal and state securities laws compliance.

Dann also previously served as the director of venture acceleration for Rev1 Ventures, executing seed-stage investment opportunities and working to build internal consensus for investments. He assessed technologies and advised entrepreneurs licensing intellectual property from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, The Ohio State University and OhioHealth on developing business models and launching startup companies.

Dann earned his juris doctor from The University of Akron Law School in 2015. During law school, Dann gained substantial experience in a variety of positions. He was an associate member of the Northeast Ohio Student Venture Fund, where he assessed early-stage high tech startups in order to make a recommendation to the board on which company to award $25,000 in seed funding. He served as a law clerk for a Northeast Ohio law firm and as the intellectual property extern for the University of Akron Research Foundation. Dann was also a licensing associate in the Ohio State University’s Technology Commercialization Office, where he supported the evaluation, marketing and licensing of OSU technologies and performed prior art searches to assess freedom-to-operate and patentability.

Before law school, Dann was an anatomy teaching assistant at The Ohio State University. He earned his bachelor’s in biology with a focus in anatomy and physiology from OSU in 2008.

When he is not practicing law or spending time with his wife and their pets, Dann can be found participating in one of his many interests, including basketball, golf, caddying, tennis, soccer, ping pong, news, podcasts, technology, animals, home-brewing and poker.
