Emily Kennedy joined Ice Miller in 2001 and primarily provides paralegal support to the Asbestos Litigation and Worker’s Compensation Practice Groups.

In June 2017, Emily became the Firm’s Paralegal Coordinator. In this role, Emily coordinates workflow coverage, training and professional development opportunities and events and retreats for paralegals.

Within the Asbestos Litigation Practice Group, Emily assists with aspects of asbestos cases including case organization and development, preparation of initial document drafts for attorney review, tracking and coordination of deadlines and due dates, maintenance and updates of statistical claim information, collection and organization of deposition preparation materials and assistance with client updates and responses to client requests for information. She works and coordinates with outside counsel and courts on a regular basis.

Within the Worker’s Compensation Practice Group, Emily assists with claims pending before the Worker’s Compensation Board of Indiana and the Indiana Court of Appeals. She assists attorneys with case organization and development; preparation of medical records summaries for attorney review and preparation of hearing exhibits.

Originally from Indianapolis, Ind., Emily earned her Bachelor of Arts at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., majoring in French, political science and economics. As part of her degree program, Emily studied at the Institute of Political Studies, University of Provence in Aix-en-Provence, France during the 1998 -1999 academic year, earning a Certificate of Political Studies. She is fluent in French and performs French-to-English document translation work for Firm clients.  

Emily led Ice Miller’s team to win the award for most bears donated to the 2018, 2017 and 2016 Indianapolis Bar Association Paralegal Committee Teddy Bear Challenge benefiting the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, the Indianapolis Fire Department, the Indianapolis EMS and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

She and her husband Matthew are raising three children. She is actively involved in her church and volunteers at her children’s school. She currently serves as the committee chair of Cub Scout Pack 499. In her (limited) spare time, Emily loves to read, travel and practice yoga.
