Jenifer Brown practices exclusively in the area of immigration law and serves as chair of the Firm's Labor, Employment and Immigration Practice Group. Jenifer represents and advises corporations, organizations, and colleges and universities in the filing of nonimmigrant and immigrant petitions with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Departments of Labor and State. She also counsels clients on I-9 employment verification, social security mismatch issues and e-verify. Finally, Jenifer assists clients with the transfer of key personnel on short and long term assignments abroad.
She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA). Jenifer was elected president of the Indiana Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), 2002-2004, and currently serves as a mentor to other AILA members. Jenifer is a regular speaker on a variety of Immigration topics for the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, Society for Human Resources Management and other events and seminars.
Jenifer graduated, with honors, from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science in 1994. She was an intern with the Office of Senator Richard G. Lugar in Washington, D.C. and the Indiana House of Representatives while an undergraduate student. She obtained her juris doctor from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, in 1998.
Since joining the Firm in October 1999, Jenifer has been actively involved in advising local pro bono organizations benefiting political refugees and low-income foreign nationals and is currently serving on the board of directors for the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic and Big Car, a public arts organization. She is admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana.
