Marie Ragias is an attorney in Ice Miller’s Real Estate Practice Group. She regularly handles real estate transactions, such as foreclosure, bankruptcy and probate filings.

Before joining Ice Miller, Marie served as underwriting counsel for Title First Agency in the residential real estate department. She was responsible for underwriting title searches for multiple branch locations throughout Ohio, which included files for a major central Ohio homebuilder and lender client. In addition to Marie’s role as underwriter, she also performed residential real estate closings, taught continuing education courses for real estate agents and facilitated employee training classes to ensure industry compliance.

Marie earned her juris doctor, summa cum laude, from Capital University Law School. While at Capital University, Marie served as an articles editor on the executive board of the Capital University Law Review. During her first summer of law school, Marie clerked at the Legal Aid Society of Columbus and went on to earn a Pro Bono Legal Honors Distinction for her continued pro bono service to the Columbus community.

Marie has experience working in various areas of the real estate industry, including her time at a Columbus-based commercial real estate appraisal firm and at a leasing office for a high volume, university area apartment complex. She also served as an extern for M/I Homes, researching statutory requirements for contractor and subcontractor licensing requirements, HOAs and various homebuilder issues and participated in title/survey verifications to evaluate potential land purchases for easements or restrictions.

Marie is licensed to practice law in both the state of Ohio and the state of Florida.
