Business Solutions Guide for Utility Service ProvidersMichael B. Cracraft concentrates his Utilities’ law practice primarily in the areas of energy, water, wastewater, communications, telecommunications and administrative law. Mike provides full-service representation to a broad range of investor-owned and municipal utilities, and other institutional clients.
Mike has litigated or otherwise resolved numerous regulatory proceedings for electric, gas, steam, water and sewer companies before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. He has handled many other types of administrative and trial court litigation, including state and local tax matters, utility territorial disputes, financing proceedings, acquisitions, gas cost adjustments, fuel cost adjustments, certificates of public convenience and necessity for electric generating facilities and administrative agency rulemakings.
He has been responsible for or involved in appeals of utility and other matters to the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Indiana Supreme Court. He also has represented clients before the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the Indiana Department of State Revenue, the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Indiana Tax Court and state and federal courts.
Mike was selected for inclusion in the listing of Indiana Super Lawyers® for the years 2004 through 2013. He also was recognized in Best Lawyers in America for over ten years in the areas of Energy Law and Communications Law, in Indiana Business Magazine and in Corporate Counsel in the areas of Energy, Public Utility, Environmental and Natural Resources Law.
Mike is actively involved in a number of professional associations. He is a former chair of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Utility Law Section. Mike is a member of the Indiana Municipal Lawyers Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association.
