Nick Merker is a data security and privacy law practitioner with ten years of pre-law technology experience as a systems, network and security engineer. He is a sought-after international speaker, teacher, writer and professor on data security and privacy-related legal issues. Over the last five years, he has acted as data breach coach in more than 250 security incidents.
Nick’s technology experience and passion for new media equips him to identify and mitigate legal risk efficiently. Nick provides practical advice that clients can start implementing immediately. He knows what information security and privacy regulators expect, how to actually comply with emerging laws and contract provisions that clients have negotiated and guides clients to practical compliance.

He is faculty at the International Association of Privacy Professionals where he leads privacy training across the globe to executives, engineers, lawyers and managers.
