Onica Matsika is an attorney in Ice Miller’s Business Group. She represents private companies, startups and nonprofits across various industries on entity formation, mergers and acquisitions, financing, and general corporate governance.

Onica regularly drafts, negotiates and executes acquisition, sale, financing, joint venture, operating, confidentiality and consulting agreements. In addition, clients turn to Onica to serve as outside counsel on matters related to daily operational issues, board of directors training, employment matters, compliance with state and federal regulations, and internal policy development.

Onica is an advocate for the arts, education, and social change. She is a board member of several Chicago non-profit organizations and a sought-after speaker on corporate matters and diversity, equity & inclusion. In 2020 she was a recipient of the Ice Miller Director’s Pro Bono Award for her pro-bono leadership and service in the Chicago community.

Onica earned her juris doctor with honors from Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While in law school, she served as managing editor of the Indiana Law Journal, Chief Justice of the Sherman Minton Advocacy Board and completed a judicial externship with the Hon. Ann Claire Williams of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Onica is licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
