Raven Merlau is of counsel in Ice Miller's Workplace Solutions Group. She concentrates her practice on employee benefit plans for governmental and tax-exempt entities, including statewide retirement systems, colleges and universities, and school corporations. Raven counsels clients on matters pertaining to retirement, health, and welfare plans, including their design, implementation, and administration. She also helps clients navigate IRS audits.
As part of her practice, Raven also advises sponsors of 529 college savings plans and 529A Achieving Better Life Experience (ABLE) savings plans.
Raven graduated from George Mason University School of Law, receiving her juris doctor, magna cum laude, in 2013. While in law school, she clerked for the AARP Foundation Litigation's Employee Benefits team, where she worked on state pension issues. Raven also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Patricia Broderick of the D.C. Superior Court during Judge Broderick's time presiding over juvenile delinquency cases. Raven received her Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from Duke University.
