As director of business development, Robert Randolph leads the Ice Miller business development team, which supports lawyers in building client relationships, crafting client proposals, identifying client needs, and serving as client advocates. He counsels lawyers and his team to utilize collaborative business development processes, skills, and techniques that are built on utilizing curiosity to develop a deeper understanding of clients’ objectives and needs.

Robert brings a unique background to the firm. He is a sales executive, instructor and former practicing attorney who has built a career supporting client development teams, growing client portfolios, interviewing clients, mentoring business development executives, and training both lawyers and support team members to build client relationships. Throughout his successful career, Robert has enabled cross-practice teams to collaborate, recognize client needs, and create client-centric solutions that help lawyers contribute to client success.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Robert served as an independent business development consultant and trainer focused on Am Law 200 firms. In this role, he designed, built, and delivered on-demand virtual workshops to teach associates business development and team skills. He also trained and coached hundreds of partners on how to develop new business by focusing on client needs.

Robert earned his juris doctor from Michigan State University College of Law in 1986 and his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Alma College in 1983.
