Shyla Jones is of counsel in Ice Miller's Intellectual Property Group. She counsels clients on all aspects of intellectual property law and is a licensed patent attorney. Shyla’s practice focuses on global brand protection and enforcement with an emphasis on trademark, trade dress and design patent issues across a range of industries, including travel, entertainment, fashion, software and technology, hospitality, food and beverage and beauty and wellness.

Shyla is also active in the Chicago intellectual property community. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Chicago Women in IP, and the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild. In addition, Shyla is an adjunct professor at The John Marshall School of Law where supervises the Intellectual Property – Trademark Clinic. She is also an active member of the International Trademark Association and counsels pro bono clients through the organization's Trademark Clearinghouse.

Prior to joining Ice Miller, Shyla worked in an IP-focused law firm and for a sole practitioner who focused on intellectual property, business, social media and entertainment law. Her prior experience also includes working for an IP boutique in San Jose, Calif. and TMI Associates, Inc. in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan.

Representative Federal Court Matters

Representing a multinational corporation in a trademark infringement, dilution, and unfair competition action concerning use of the trademark.

Represented a hair and skin care manufacturer in a trademark infringement, false description, false designation of origin and unfair competition action concerning use of “pure natural” and secured a favorable dismissal.

Representative Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Matters

Represented a multinational corporation in opposition proceedings concerning the company’s trademark and secured favorable settlements.

Representing a multinational corporation in consolidated opposition proceedings and a cancellation proceeding concerning the company’s trademark.
