Thomas Bousnakis serves as of counsel in Ice Miller’s Litigation Practice. Tom advises sophisticated clients in a diverse array of industries. He has significant experience providing litigation and advisory services in the financial, pharmaceutical, transportation and entertainment sectors as well as in conducting internal investigations on behalf of multinational corporations.
In addition to his private practice, Tom maintains an active pro bono practice where he focuses on providing legal services to members of underserved communities. His pro bono accomplishments include obtaining legal protection for domestic violence victims, achieving asylum for foreign nationals who endured persecution in three separate countries before fleeing to the U.S. and taking part in litigation challenging the now-defunct federal Defense of Marriage Act.
Tom earned his juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School in 2010. While in law school, he won the Best Brief Award in the 2008 American Constitution Society Moot Court Competition, served as articles editor for the Michigan Journal of Gender & Law and co-chaired Outlaws, an LGBT law student group. Prior to law school, Tom taught history and civics to high school students in Massachusetts.
Tom joined Ice Miller in 2019 after serving as a senior associate in the Chicago and New York offices of a major international law firm. He is licensed to practice law in New York and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
