A member of the Firm's Municipal Finance Group, Todd W. Ponder assists a variety of clients with the financing or refinancing of their significant capital projects through the use of low interest rate tax-exempt bonds. Todd works primarily with both public and private colleges and universities, as well as other types of Section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, including private K-12 schools, charter schools, museums, cultural institutions, YMCAs and the like.

During the first nine years of his practice Todd concentrated exclusively in the area of labor and employment law and related litigation, representing management.

For the past 20 years as a municipal finance lawyer, Todd has served as bond counsel in scores of tax exempt bond issues for colleges, universities and non-profit organizations of all varieties. While Todd's primary role in these transactions has been as bond counsel, he also has served in numerous transactions as issuer's counsel, borrower's counsel, underwriter's counsel, special disclosure counsel and/or bank counsel. Todd has had a hand in the low cost tax-exempt financing of dozens of significant capital projects on borrower campuses in all corners of the state of Indiana and throughout the Midwest.

Todd has written articles and spoken frequently on numerous topics relating to tax-exempt financing, as well as labor and employment law issues and civil rights.

Following graduation from law school, Ponder worked for two years with the Atlanta, Georgia, law firm of King & Spalding.

Ponder was born in Indianapolis and graduated magna cum laude from DePauw University in 1981, with a Bachelor of Arts in economics. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated from the University of Chicago School of Law in 1984.

Todd joined Ice Miller in 1986. He is admitted to practice in the states of Georgia and Indiana.
