Brian Magorien

Brian Magorien is an associate in Ice Miller's Public Finance Group, where he serves as bond counsel, underwriter's counsel, borrower's counsel, and disclosure counsel in connection with tax-exempt bond financings. His practice focuses on conduit financings for charter schools, community schools, and other 501(c)(3) organizations in the education and healthcare sectors, as well as student housing and real estate development transactions.

Brian has been involved in charter school and education-related financings across the United States. His experience spans new money issuances, refundings, campus expansion projects, and complex multi-faceted transactions involving developer components and blended-use facilities. On select engagements, Brian has served in multiple counsel roles on a single transaction—providing comprehensive legal support from authorization through closing.

Brian works closely with investment banking clients, municipal advisors, and borrowers to guide transactions through due diligence, document drafting, securities law compliance, disclosure, and post-issuance matters. He is a contributor to the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

Brian earned his juris doctor from Capital University Law School and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The Ohio State University. During law school, he served as treasurer for the Capital University Law School Student Bar Association. Prior to joining Ice Miller, Brian worked as a law clerk assisting with zoning, land use, and real estate development matters and served as a legal extern for the City of Columbus Department of Building and Zoning Services.
