Ice Miller partner Charles E. Bush II has been selected to participate in this year’s Stanley K. Lacey Executive Leadership (SKL) program. Bush is one of 25 individuals in Indianapolis selected to participate in this highly competitive program, which seeks to expand the ranks of community leaders by teaching and motivating members to address the needs of Central Indiana.

Bush was chosen because of his significant community involvement and professional achievement. He is a partner in Ice Miller’s Workplace Solutions Group where he counsels employers on all issues related to labor and employment, including hiring, promotion, performance evaluation, harassment, leave of absence, wage and hour, reductions in force, discipline and discharge, traditional labor law matters and National Labor Relations Board administrative matters. He also represents colleges and universities in disputes related to Title IX and matters  before the Office for Civil Rights. He focuses on solutions that incorporate not only the law, but also its strategic and practical application to each client’s objectives.

In addition, Bush is actively involved in his community. In 2021, he was appointed by Mayor Joe Hogsett to the City of Indianapolis Ethics Commission. He also serves on the board of directors for At Your School and is on the executive committee of the 1925 Society of the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. Bush is also a corporate member of the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council and a member of the Indybar Diversity Job Fair Committee, the National Employment Law Council, and the National Bar Association. He was also named a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow for 2024.

Now in its 48th  year, the SKL Series began in 1976 to honor the memory of Indianapolis business leader Stanley K. Lacy by encouraging and supporting other young professionals in their community work. Since its inception, more than eleven hundred  people have gone through the ten-month program and many of the significant leaders in Indianapolis are graduates of the program or have served as moderators, including numerous Ice Miller lawyers and business professionals. The SKL Class XLVIII will meet monthly from September 2024 through June 2025.
