Thank You, Michael B. Coleman: Celebrating a Legacy of Leadership and Service
As Michael B. Coleman begins his well-earned retirement, we want to extend our sincere gratitude for an extraordinary and transformational career defined by leadership and service.
Michael has been a trusted colleague and a respected leader in our Government Affairs & Regulatory Law group, bringing together advocacy and strategy to help clients navigate complex public policy and business challenges.
Long before joining the firm, Michael made history as Columbus’ first African American mayor and its longest-serving mayor, leading the city from 2000 to 2015 with a vision that helped shape Columbus for generations. His legacy includes signature initiatives that strengthened neighborhoods and advanced civic innovation, such as the Affordable Housing Trust, the GreenSpot initiative, the Scioto Mile, and the City’s 311 customer service program.
Even after leaving office, Michael continued to serve the community through civic engagement, mentorship, and nonprofit leadership, supporting efforts such as a citywide ban on flavored tobacco, initiatives to close the racial wealth gap, and co-chairing Ohio’s America-250 commission to help foster unity.
Michael, thank you for your tremendous friendship, mentorship, and collaboration. We celebrate all that you’ve accomplished, and we wish you a joyful, fulfilling next chapter.
