Michael E. Millikan

Michael Millikan maintains a dynamic private equity and M&A practice. In addition to his transactional work, he serves as trusted counsel to numerous private equity portfolio companies and regularly guides family owned businesses through succession planning, strategic transitions, and sale transactions.  Michael is also the former chief managing partner of the firm from 2022-2025 and before that led the firm’s Business Group from 2018-2022.

Drawing on decades of deal experience, Michael represents private equity clients, including Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) funds, in a broad range of equity and mezzanine investments.  He also works closely with entrepreneurial and family-owned enterprises on strategic planning, capital formation, acquisition driven growth, and succession planning, including the ultimate sale of the business. He advises clients across a spectrum of industries on sophisticated transactional, operational, and governance matters.

Michael brings nationally recognized experience in major public private partnership initiatives. His work includes representing the State of Indiana in the lease of the Indiana Toll Road, the City of Indianapolis in the lease of its parking meter system, the Ohio Department of Transportation in the construction of the Cleveland Innerbelt Bridge, and bidders in the Midway Airport and Chicago Parking Garage privatizations.
