Aneca Lasley and Amy Flowers Honored with Pro Bono Award by the Northern District of Ohio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association
Ice Miller partner Aneca Lasley and associate Amy E. Flowers have been chosen by the Northern District of Ohio Chapter of the Federal Bar Association to receive their annual Pro Bono Award. Lasley and Flowers were recommended for the award by United States District Judge J. Philip Calabrese for their work on a criminal case. The client originally plead guilty to all five counts in their Indictment and Supplemental Indictment, and shortly thereafter, made a motion to withdraw their guilty plea and requested the appointment of new defense counsel, at which point, Lasley and Flowers were appointed to represent the client. After several months of evaluating the case, reviewing extensive discovery, and meeting with the client on multiple occasions, they ultimately withdrew the motion to withdraw their guilty plea and proceeded to resolve the case.
Lasley is an experienced trial lawyer with a background in handling a variety of commercial and class action disputes, multidistrict litigation, including national product liability and privacy, and technology-related disputes.
Flowers focuses her practice on employment and civil litigation. She routinely counsels employers to help them avoid worker’s compensation and employment issues and defends them in employment and civil litigation matters.
The Federal Bar Association-Northern District of Ohio Chapter (FBA-NDOH) is a professional organization for attorneys and the judiciary who practice in the federal system or have an interest in federal law. The awards recognize the hard work and many achievements that the FBA sections and divisions have accomplished throughout the year.
Ice Miller’s pro bono network works with courts in the jurisdictions that the firm serves, organizations that serve the underprivileged and economically disadvantaged, and national legal service providers.
Lasley and Flowers were honored at the FBA-NDOH’s 2024 State-of-the-Court Luncheon & Installation of FBA Board Officers on October 7.
