Ice Miller lawyer Greg May was quoted in the Cleveland.com article, "Legal loophole has created a wild west of intoxicating hemp products in Ohio."

The article included:

Producers realized they could legally sell products with intoxicating effects as long as they kept Delta-9 THC under 0.3%. These products mimic marijuana's effects but aren't regulated like marijuana.

"People figured out that you could take CBD, which may have trace amounts of THC in it, but if it's really hemp, and through a chemical reaction, you could convert it into Delta 9 THC or Delta 8 THC or number of other cannabinoids," said Greg May, an attorney at Ice Miller LLP, who provides counsel to clients on state and federal cannabis issues.

"This is really the catalyst of what we're seeing today, in terms of the intoxicating hemp market."
