The longtime general counsel for the New York City Police Pension Fund joined Ice Miller LLP as a partner on the firm's governmental benefits team, according to a Monday announcement.

Nicole Giambarrese, a 21-year veteran of the pension fund responsible for the largest police department in the world, will focus her practice at Ice Miller on counseling governmental employers through complex benefits administration matters and federal fiduciary and taxation concerns, the firm announced.

The firm said Giambarrese was well positioned to assist local and state governmental employers and retirement systems at Ice Miller, which has served public entities across 43 states, the District of Columbia and the federal government for decades.
