Ice Miller is pleased to announce that Nicole Giambarrese has been recognized as a “Leader of the Finest” by the NYPD Lieutenants Benevolent Association (LBA) in recognition of her demonstrated tenacity and diligence throughout her career. This award reflects Giambarrese’s twenty-year commitment to her work as general counsel of the Police Pension Fund ensuring that the interests of LBA members, as well as members of the Fund at large, were protected.

Giambarrese is a partner in Ice Miller’s Workplace Solutions Group, where her practice focuses on counseling local and state governmental employers and retirement systems on employee benefit issues and federal tax compliance, as well as supporting and guiding clients with public pension plans. Giambarrese began her career at the Police Pension Fund as an intern in 2004, performing an array of duties, including serving as a paralegal and law clerk, until becoming an agency attorney in 2011. Giambarrese continued to distinguish herself at the Fund and was elevated to general counsel in 2014, at which time she became the youngest public pension fund general counsel in the country.

The NYPD Lieutenants Benevolent Association is a labor union representing lieutenants in the New York City Police Department. In addition to negotiating collective bargaining agreements with the NYPD for its members, the LBA provides various benefits and services to its members, including health and welfare funds, scholarship assistance, and other member assistance programs. Additionally, the President of the LBA serves as a trustee on the New York City Police Pension Fund.
