Abigail Barr is an associate in Ice Miller’s Labor, Employment and Immigration Group. She has extensive experience in collective bargaining, mediation and arbitration, practicing before the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the EEOC and the State Personnel Board of Review and various other labor and employment matters.

Abigail was a staff attorney for the Ohio Board of Nursing before entering private practice. She responded to charges of discrimination with both the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and handled various employee matters pertaining to FMLA, FLSA and ADA. In addition, she conducted staff training on statewide and Board policies and procedures, made recommendations on discipline for Board employees and acted as liaison between Board management and the labor unions.

Prior to working for the Board of Nursing, she acted as a policy analyst for the Ohio Department of Administrative Services’ Office of Collective Bargaining. In this role, Abigail participated in the collective bargaining process for five separate union contracts, represented the state of Ohio in mediations and arbitrations with the unions, responded to unfair labor practice charges filed with the State Employment Relations Board and assisted state agencies in contract and policy interpretation.

Abigail began her legal practice as an assistant attorney general in the Employment Law Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. She represented state agencies and public colleges and universities in various employment matters, including removals, transfers, suspensions and Title VII and ADA claims. Abigail practiced before state and federal courts, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and State Personnel Board of Review with additional practice in mediation and arbitration. She also advised clients on employment contracts and assisted with drafting employee policies and procedures.
